I received the following release regarding a wonderful exhibit to celebrate the life of Dr. Hans Holzer. The exhibit was on display at the PARAPLEX from January 24, 2009 through mid-April 2009. When the PARAPLEX re-opens, we hope to have this fascinating exhibit back! In the meantime, if you're in New York, you're in a wonderful position to see this amazing exhibit and meet in person, Countess Catherine Buxhoeveden and Tricia Rother!
Southampton: The Paranormal world lost a giant this year with the passing of Hans Holzer, 89, the original “Ghost Hunter.” Holzer’s paranormal investigations took him to haunted castles, houses and graveyards across the globe with his investigation partner and local resident, Countess Catherine Buxhoeveden.
A Tribute, The Paranormal Period 1963 - 1975 is being held at the Hill Gallery in the Ark Project to honor him and his work on October 31st from 3pm to 6pm. On view are the actual pen & ink illustrations and recorded accounts of the dehauntings from his numerous books and research. A lecture and discussion will be given by Tricia Rother who curated the exhibit with partner, Countess Catherine Buxhoeveden and was a friend of Prof. Holzer’s.
The exhibit “The Paranormal Period 1963 - 1975 has just returned from a recent premier in New Orleans at the PARAPLEX.
Holzer has been credited with creating the term "The Other Side" to which he is now gaily a part of. His first book Ghost Hunter was published in 1963 and he, “felt more than comfortable with ghosts,” he once confided to Leonard Nimoy the host of the popular In Search Of programs (of which Holzer was a consultant). "In all my years of ghost hunting I have never been afraid," he admitted. "After all, a ghost is only a fellow human being in trouble."
Known at the “PARA” period, this exhibit is a historic time line. It documents the decade of birth and evolution of ghost hunting and other phenomenon. Hans’ work is the 101 for every PARA explorer today. The growth and interest in the field is tremendous and with the help of technology, it could go anywhere. I think Hans would have liked that,” Tricia continues, “it is a must experience and time to honor the man and his work.”
