Lusher, Northlake, McGehee remain unbeaten in district

With district races heating up, three area teams remained unbeaten in their respective leagues on Thursday. Lusher moved to 7-0 in District 9-4 with a 25-14, 25-10, 25-11 victory over Cohen. Kylie McCarty led the way with 15 assists and eight aces. Lusher improved to 16-11 overall while Cohen fell to 6-20, 1-4 in league play.

Lutcher moved to 4-0 in District 3-5 with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 victory over Livonia. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 23-11 overall while Livonia fell to 11-11 and 1-3 in district play. McGehee improved to 6-0 in District 8-4 with a solid 25-12, 26-24, 25-15 win over Newman. Lindsey Baker contributed 22 assists to the victory as McGehee improved to 29-6 overall.

Coach Rowland Skinner's Northlake Christian Wolverines improved to 3-0 in District 5-4 with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-14 win over Pope John Paul II. Hannah Miranda starred for Northlake, with 17 kills, 16 digs and three aces in a brilliant effort.

With the win, the Wolverines improved to 21-8 overall while Pope John Paul dropped to 8-15 overall and 0-4 in league play. The Wolverines face a tall task Friday evening as they face Division One power and defending state champion St. Joseph's (38-1) in the Baton Rouge area.

St. Martin's defeated Ridgewood in three games
