Krewe Of O.A.K. - Midsummer Mardi Gras review

Saturday night's Midsummer Mardi Gras, hosted by the Krewe of O.A.K,. was this summer's not-to-miss costume catwalk.  Coincidentally, the Krewe's 23rd annual celebration fell on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina as well as Michael Jackson's birthday.  Lady Steppers including the Bearded Oysters and Muffalettas charmed the crowd as brass bands kept everyone dancing through the Carrollton neighborhood.  Queen Ragan Wicker expressed her devotion to her people with an ensemble celebrating the powers of the universe while her King, Dave Corey, paid tribute to the King of Pop.  3000 revelers joined the Krewe in tribute to the fabulous people and unique culture of historic Carrollton.  www.kreweofoak.org.
