My heart's still recouping from being turned down by my future wife, Yasuko of Melt Banana, at the show last week... Maybe there'll be a show to ease my heart this week. Let's see, shall we?
11/18 (Wed)- Tipitina's gives us indie-pop on an international flavor with CAMERA OBSCURA. A lovely little group all the way from Glasgow, Scotland
11/20 (Fri)- 11/20- GORDON GANO (OF THE VIOLENT FEMMES) will be at the Hi-Ho Lounge! See who he is beyond the man who scarred you with blisters under the sun!
11/20 (Fri)- The New Orleans Indie Rock Collective gets back together and kicks off New Orleans Indie Rock Fest III at One Eyed Jack's!! Delight in the sounds of Gamma Ringo, MyNameIsJohNMichael, One Man Machine, and Vox and the Hound (leo DeJesus). Or close out the fest the next day at Blue Nile. http://neworleansindierock.com/
Ooooooo!!! Day of Satur (11/21) will unload the week with mucho uber shows!
House of Blues will host Julian Marley AND Stephen Marley for a sweet reggae show. Being exactly a week after hosting The Wailers performance of Exodus, this month has just been a Marley fan's delight! Minus Bob... (still trying to raise him from the dead!).
Tipitina's will remind us even great music genres can go horribly wrong. Such as punk morphing into pop-punk which puked out emo. Or Ska, which became... simply put terrible over time after each "wave". Just like cheap beer. It must be consumed cold and quickly. Left in the sun, it does NOT become delicious like the raisin. Hear what Ska was meant to sound like by the very fathers of said genre known as THE SKATALITES.
The black thing spinning in the chosen vid is called a record. It's like a CD, except bigger and thicker (like other things that come in black *cough*).
Hi-Ho Lounge is hosting Rev SPOOKY LeSTRANGE CHURCH OF BURLESQUE B-DAY EXTRAVAGANZA! I have much love for my local lady performers, especially when they are almost naked. Just the way I like my future wife to be! Key word is ALMOST naked. Completely naked just ruins my mind from imagining!
Lastly, Republic will have none other than NEKO CASE!!! Oh boy, she could clearly be my future wi... WAIT A MINUTE!... just realized that means two lovely ladies of wife-y potential are performing the same night!! Who to choose, who to choose... Gotta go with Neko Case (sorry Ms. Spooky!). Momma always said never date a local girl.
Speaking of eating... Po-Boy Fest (http://www.poboyfest.com/ ) NEEDS to get here quicker!! 11/22 I will RAVAGE all dem Po-Boys! RAVAGE I TELL YOU! I've been practicing from what I've learned about ravaging from my friends here.
