Produced by the Greater Mandeville Seafood Association, Inc, The Mandeville Seafood Festival, established in 1978, is the oldest festival held in St. Tammany Parish. Attendance is estimated at over ten thousand people per day. Children ten and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Senior citizens over sixty-five are also admitted free of charge. The Go 4th on the River Dueling Barges Fireworks Extravaganza is the annual Independence Day Celebration along the New Orleans Riverfront with all-day activities for the whole family. New Orleans Summers are hot – and there is no hotter place to be for the Fourth of July than in the Crescent City. Essence Festival 2008 - July 4th, 5th & 6th

Shakespeare Festival - NOW through July 12th
The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane continues its15th season of professional theatre with As You Like It (June 26 - July 12). In the magical forest of Arden, Rosalind must become a man to make a man of Orlando. Director Sean Patterson’s re-imagining of Shakespeare’s popular comedy takes place in an urban park of the 1930's filled with romance. It features the talents of local favorites Trina Beck and James Bartelle, making their SFT stage debut, and Lara Grice in her first return to the SFT stage since Katrina! (More)

Southern Decadence Festival 2008 - Aug. 27th to Sept. 1st
Since it was founded in 1781, New Orleans has marched to the beat of its own drum. For two centuries, those in control of the Louisiana state government have tried in vain to impose their prejudices on a city that is French, Spanish, Creole, African, Catholic, pagan and very gay (in both senses of the word).
