Anne Baker has had a lifetime of gardening and farming experience. From her Cajun family farming heritage to running a certified organic farm and nursery in Uptown before Hurricane Katrina, and currently an organic urban farm in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, she has learned many skills that she enjoys passing on to other gardeners and growers through writing, seminars, workshops, and as a one-on-one gardening consultant, where she gets a sneak peek at growing spaces all over New Orleans. |

Since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged the Greater New Orleans Area and the Gulf Coast region, we have been fighting to rebuild and re-create our beloved city. We now have the opportunity to improve our environment by fighting for it! Through both national and local organizations, we have initiated a "green" era for New Orleans and we need to support these efforts. Rebuild your home with salvaged materials, recycle, conserve energy, use aternate resources and donate to these worthy causes today. Rebuild Green is the concluding part of a three-stage plan by the Common Ground Collective. Rebuild Green is meant to help residents of New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast create homes, employment and an environment that are sustainable in the 21st century. In so doing, Rebuild Green is working to regenerate New Orleans. The elements of this circle of regeneration are safe and strong housing, renewable energy, low-income employment investments, employment and training, wetlands restoration and bioremediation. (More)
