Wine & Dine News Releases
WHEN: Saturday November 14, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Palm Court Jazz Café, 1201 Decatur Street in the French Quarter
WHO: Fund-raiser planned by the Daughters of the British Empire in Louisiana (DBE) – a philanthropic group of women of British and Commonwealth birth or ancestry living in America, who maintain and operate Retirement Homes across the US. DBE’s popular website is at www.dbeinla.org.

WHAT: All the ingredients for a memorable evening will be waiting at the Palm Court Jazz Café for your enjoyment – live music, British food and drink, a fabulous auction, a seated dinner, including your favorite British dishes. Sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, British cheeses, Shepherds Pie, Onion Tarts, Curries, Apple Crumble, Crème Caramel, Trifle and more. The ever popular map game, and a London Landmarks Quiz to entertain you. The evening will round out with a singsong of old British songs.
The best part of the evening is to meet and greet lots of Brits and maybe make new friendships. MC will be Peggy Scott Laborde, and auctioneer will be John Fowler.
The proceeds benefit Mountbatten House, the retirement home maintained and operated by the DBE, and the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, which has been hit with huge cuts in State support. Both are very worthy causes.
Tickets are $55 and must be purchased in advance, because of the limited seating. Call 504-367-4116 with your credit card for tickets.
