Glover, Marie Laveau researcher Dr. Ina Fandrich, acclaimed musical celebrities Coco Robicheaux, Sunpie, Luther Gray of Bamboula 2000, Amzie Zardox and the Voodoo Authentica Ritual Troupe featuring Zohar Israel!

What is VOODOOFEST?
VOODOOFEST is our FREE annual festival, held EVERY Halloween, which celebrates the Voodoo religion's many important contributions to New Orleans' traditions. VOODOOFEST’s primary goals are to honor the Ancestors, educate the public about this widely misunderstood religion & to preserve and celebrate the unique Spiritual & Cultural Heritage of New Orleans.
Activities All Day:
Educational & Cultural Presentations, Book signings, Practitioner-Made Potion Oils & Gris Gris Bags, Over 100 varieties of locally handmade Voodoo Dolls & Crafts, Spiritual Work & Consultations, New Orleans, African & Haitian Art, Free Refreshments and more. Ancestral Healing Ritual at 7 PM

VOODOOFEST 2009 EVENTS SCHEDULE:
1 PM: OPENING CEREMONY with Haitian Vodou Priestess, Mama Lola & New Orleans own Voodoo Priest, Elmer T. Glover
2 PM: Acclaimed author, academic & Vodou Practitioner, Dr. Ina Fandrich, speaks about the life & times of our Great Ancestor, Mam'zelle Marie Laveau - from her colorful history to her modern day place as an active "New Orleans Lwa" who is called upon daily for assistance. Dr. Fandrich will sign copies of her insightful book, "The Mysterious Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveaux"
3:30 PM: Haitian-initiated New Orleans Voodoo Priest Elmer T. Glover speaks about the evolution of "New Orleans American Voodoo" into a valid practice in its own right. Discussion will include practical information on the use of dolls, potions, gris gris bags & candles as ritual magick tools.
4:30 PM: World famous local musician & practitioner, Coco Robicheaux, will perform musical selections & discuss the importance of Spirituality & its influence on him and his unique musical style.
5:30 PM: Internationally renowned musician & historian, Sunpie, talks about how the Lwa (Vodou Spirits) have influenced his music and also explains the historical roots of many of New Orleans' unique cultural traditions & euphemisms.
6:15 PM: BRING YOUR DRUMS FOR AFRICAN DRUMMING 101! Award winning percussionist, Luther Gray, of Bamboula 2000 discusses the African roots of our locally beloved rhythmic music and dance. Everyone will participate & learn a few basic rhythms.
7 PM CLOSING ANCESTRAL HEALING RITUAL with Haitian Vodou Priestess, Mama Lola, New Orleans own Voodoo Priest, Elmer T. Glover, World Famous percussionist Luther Gray, of the award winning Bamboula 2000, New Orleans favorite wildcat, artist & musician Amzie Adams & his wonderful band Spiritwalker & the Voodoo Authentica Ritual Troupe featuring Zohar Israel!
