Festival International De Louisiane - April 22nd to 26th

The largest outdoor, FREE Francophone event in the U.S., the Festival places special emphasis on highlighting the connections between Acadiana and the Francophone world. Each year performing, visual and culinary artists from Europe, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean and the Americas are invited to share their talents with Louisiana artists, residents and visitors. (More)

Art in April Festival - April 24th & 25th
arts-in-aprils-art--garden-fest.jpgThe 13th Annual Art in April Festival will be held on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th, 2009. A free outdoor concert on the grounds of the St. Bernard Courthouse, 1101 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette will kick off the event. The concert will feature Leif Pedersen’s 1944 Big Band Orchestra. Visitors can enjoy live music, local food, a children’s pavilion, including, hands on arts and crafts, Aqua Van, storytelling, puppet and magic shows. There will also be arts and crafts, plant sale and educational exhibits. The fine art show will feature the works of artists from the metropolitan New Orleans area. St. Bernard Schools Children’s art show will be displayed in the lobby of the Courthouse. The winning artist this year from the St. Bernard Art Guild this year is Janet Attaway. Her winning art work represents this years theme “Building on History” an oil painting of Kenilworth Plantation that will be raffled. (More)

Founded in New Orleans and produced by the non-profit Mystic Knights of the Mau Mau, a diverse group of music fanatics who have presented over 50 concerts with over 200 musical legends, the Stomp always succeeds in exposing rare musical icons to their adoring fans and to new audiences.
