The mission of the Abramson Science and Technology is to create a safe and healthy learning environment that will nurture, motivate and enable our middle school youth to develop into mindful and responsible, contribute people who their community and the diverse society in which we all live. Our program is characterized by the cooperative presence and unified support of caring families, businesses as well as educational and civic groups, with whom our students will interact. Our instruction will guide students through the development of creative, critical thinking and learning skills and enable them to apply these skills though cooperative, interactive instruction in the core curricular areas.

Working in conjunction with Orleans Parish School District, part of a growing national movement that has seen the introduction of over 3,600 charter schools in the last thirteen years. The ACSA is working to make the schools within the association free from the burdens of conventional education structures, and that each school is open by choice to all students without admissions tests, is not religiously affiliated, and have high accountability standards.

Established in 1981, Audubon quickly became an outstanding school within our community. Demand lead to two-week campouts in order to gain admission. This resulted in a very strong partnership between parents and the faculty.

In 1986, a French component opened within the school that has been extremely effective for a new cadre of students. The French government took note, and in 1990, Audubon became an official French School in an historical agreement between the French Government and the State of Louisiana. In 2002, the French government designated our school as a center for effective strategies in the teaching of a foreign language.

Benjamin Franklin High School, located on the University of New Orleans campus, was founded in 1957, its stated mission to promote excellence among New Orleans high school students. Benjamin Franklin High School has been named the top public high school in the State of Louisiana since the implementation of the accountability system in the state and was listed in Newsweek (May 8, 2006) as one of the public elite schools in the country. It has also been recognized as the top AP testing school in the Southern region.
