Anne Baker has had a lifetime of gardening and farming experience. From her Cajun family farming heritage to running a certified organic farm and nursery in Uptown before Hurricane Katrina, and currently an organic urban farm in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, she has learned many skills that she enjoys passing on to other gardeners and growers through writing, seminars, workshops, and as a one-on-one gardening consultant, where she gets a sneak peek at growing spaces all over New Orleans.
New Orleans Community
The New Orleans community is multi-faceted; there are as many interests as there are cultures in the melting pot of the city! The Crescent City's sub-tropical climate lends itself to year-round gardening, while the rebuilding of the city has led New Orleanians to re-evaluate how green we can be. Since each neighborhood was settled by a different people back in the 1800s, every one has a distinct character and feeling all its own, right down to its schools and libraries. Of course, an important part of a community are its animals, and New Orleans has plenty of pet-lovers, too. There's definitely something for everyone!
