 There is a rich history of trapping here in Louisiana, beginning with bayou settlers looking for ways to warm their families in the chilly winter months. If you want to join in a tradition that has been around since the 1700s, we have 14 different furbearers in the state, and the season runs annually from Nov. 20 through March 31. (More) |

 Because of our rich, swampy bayous down south and our lush, forested hills up north, Louisiana offers hunters a wide selection of game, practically all year long. The eight-month season includes doves, ducks, wild turkey, deer, teal, geese, quail, rabbit, nutria and more. Also, there is no limit on wild hogs, and you can trap them all year long all over the state.
