Cool Hand Luke (Deluxe Edition)      “What we have here is failure to communicate”.
Well, maybe…but “Cool Hand Luke” doesn’t fail at anything else including being enormously entertaining. This movie, made 40 years ago, boasts one of the greatest casts ever assembled led by the great Paul Newman in one of his iconic roles as the title character, a prisoner on a chain gang in the Deep South who refuses to conform…to rules, to authority…to life. Risky Business
  
So it seems that couch jumping is nothing new to Tom Cruise…25 years ago, he did the same thing, in his underwear no less, in this alleged neo-classic teen sex comedy…and rode his antics to stardom. “Risky Business” garnered lots of critical kudos back then due to the style that Writer/Director Paul Brickman laid or, rather, lathered onto the material. “Risky Business” is a classic alright…a classic case of an overrated film that is about half as funny and twice as serious as it needs to be. As a screenwriter, David has written films for Lifetime, Trimark and Paramount Home Video. His short film, “The Roommate”, starring Bill Paxton, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. David’s most recent film, “Doubting Thomas”, premiered in August 2008 on the Starz Kids Channel nationwide. |
