At The New Orleans School of Cooking, we teach the basics of Louisiana cooking in a way you'll never forget. Fun is the primary ingredient in our kitchen! Our Creole/Cajun experts teach New Orleans specialties and season them with history, tall tales and trivia. Young chefs will be sure to love this creative, hands-on cooking event. Red Kite Studio opened its doors in June 2008. We offer art instruction for children and adults. We have special "Mommy & Me" classes on weekday mornings to provide art exploration for children ages 2 - 4. Students discover their innate artistic talents through a variety of art media and projects. They are guided through the basic art elements of line, shape, color, texture and form in a fun, kid-friendly format. Red Kite Studio will emphasize the process of exploration and offer open-ended projects that captivate even the youngest of artists. Toddlers and their accompanying parent/care giver explore a variety of art media, including paint, chalk, markers, pastels, clay and mixed media construction.

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum can provide any child who loves to cook the birthday party of their dreams. They are available for children ages 3-12 on Saturdays and Sundays and run for two and a half hours. There is Louisiana Cooking, Soul Food, Mad Chemist in the Kitchen, SoFAB's Top Chef, Southern Vegetarian and Play with your Food, all arranged for children of certain ages. The party includes museum admission, a t-shirt for the birthday girl or boy, party room rental for three hours, hands-on activities, recipes, lemonade, a museum tour and cupcakes to decorate during the party.
