 Frank Lodato is a recreational fisherman born and raised in New Orleans. A local product of Brother Martin High School, Frank served 10 years active duty in the U.S. Navy. In 2002 he earned a BS in Electronic Systems Technologies from Southern Illinois University, and is the owner, webmaster, and editor of www.Yatfish.com, a website that provides links to real-time, observational, weather data in the Lake Pontchartrain area. Louisiana Parks
 Throughout Louisiana there are many natural preserves and state parks of vast beauty spilling over with flora and fauna. Bring the whole family and go camping or hiking through the natural wonder that is Louisiana. For example, not far from downtown New Orleans lies Bayou Segnette. Bayou Segnette State Park offers the best of everything. Just a thirty-minute drive across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, a multitude of recreational opportunities awaits visitors of all ages--boating, fishing, canoeing, picnicking, playgrounds and, of course, swimming in the wave pool, as well as an ecosystem that offers you the chance to spot plants, trees and wildlife from both swamps and marshland. Both salt and freshwater fishing are available because of the park's unique location. From the boat launch, you may explore many areas not readily accessible by overland routes. Catches of bass, catfish, bream, perch, redfish and trout are common in the area. On land, picnic areas are available for the whole family, and the playgrounds will delight the children. Group shelters are a perfect spot for large groups to gather, and the park's group camp provides another option for big gatherings. (More) |

Canoeing, Kayaking & Tubing
 What are Louisiana wetlands like at night-especially by moonlight? What sounds do you hear? What can you see? What is it like to paddle through open ponds and marshes or a maze of bayous, sloughs, small slender lakes and rivers, with the moon overhead and surrounded by a symphony of night sounds? It's a vivid experience to paddle into wetlands in the daylight, lunch at sunset and then paddle out by moonlight. Every sense will be strained to absorb as much of the experience as possible.
