New Orleans Theater

Since Le Petite Theatre was established in 1916 (and probably before!), theater and the performing arts have been alive and well in the city of New Orleans. Nothing is as alluring and magical as the live performances of skilled actors telling us the stories of playwrights from around the globe. This fair city of ours has been the backdrop of a few plays itself like "Streetcar Named Desire" written by our own Tennessee Williams. Choose from many theaters around town and start the season off dramatically! |

Actors' Theater of New Orleans It all began 20 years ago when René J.F. Piazza, a student at the University of New Orleans majoring in Drama and Communications, got together with a group of friends to produce their own video play. Essentially the final project for his beginning acting class was to perform a scene. Piazza took it one step further and wrote his own original script. He went out and filmed on location with a single camera and enlisted the help of friends and family for various locations while shooting the movie. (More)
