 Fredrick Guess' use of bold color to create contrasts of light and shadow is a hallmark of his style. The techniques he has developed were influenced by the tutelage of Marilyn Bendell, under whom he studied for three years, and formal training at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where he received his degree. Arthur Roger Gallery

 In 1978 Arthur Roger opened his gallery on Magazine St. in New Orleans' Garden District. The artistic scene in the city was just beginning to burgeon and the Arthur Roger Gallery moved to the forefront attracting a number of New Orleans most prominent artists including Robert Gordy and Ida Kohlmeyer. In 1988 the Arthur Roger Gallery moved to an architectural award winning space in the historic Warehouse/Arts District in downtown New Orleans. (More)

 In 2003, New York-based performance artist Scotty Heron came to New Orleans for the winter and never left. Discovering that housing was extremely cheap, he decided to buy a little place on St. Roch Avenue.
