Garden District

St. Charles Tavern (24 hrs)
1433 St. Charles Ave (near M.L.K.)
Go there at 3 a.m. for pancakes, corned beef hash, and a beer. Cops love this place also, so you know it’s a quality joint. 523-9823

Balcony Bar (4 AM)
1104 Harmony St. (at Magazine)
The Balcony Bar has great drink specials every night, killer bar food (burgers, gyros, and even salads), an internet-connected jukebox, and yes, a great balcony. On hot nights, you can’t beat sitting on the balcony and catching what little wind blows through New Orleans. 895-1600

Bulldog (1 AM)
3236 Magazine (at Pleasant)
Their menu has over a hundred beers and tasty greasy food. Try the fried mushrooms. 895-2191

Cafe Roma (1 AM)
1901 Sophie Wright Place
Gourmet pizzas, fantastic sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, and exotic salads are par for the course at this popular Garden District eatery. It also has a location in the French Quarter (1119 Decatur ).

Fat Harry’s (4 AM)
4330 St. Charles Ave (at Napoleon)
Often called Frat Harry’s, this is a prototypical college bar with TVs, pub food, and plenty of “Whoo-hooo!” 895-9582

Moonlight Cafe (3 AM)
1921 Sophie Wright Place
Garden burgers, middle eastern dishes, salads, and enormous burritos make the Moonlight a popular late-night destination for those with big appetites. Delivery is also available. 522-7313

Samuel’s Avenue Pub (3 AM)
1628 St. Charles Ave
Samuel’s is popular because of 3-for-1 beers on Wednesdays and a great deck. 581-3777

Trolley Stop (24 hrs)
1923 St. Charles Ave
Possibly the dirtiest late-night diner, it’s also got great omelettes and grits. 523-0090

Avenue Pub (24 hrs)
1732 St. Charles Ave (at Polymnia)
There’s a rumor that these floors were cleaned sometime in the mid-1980s. However this pub is always open, so you will go here eventually. 586-9243
