CAST IRONY
“IRON MAN”
Directed by Jon Favreau
Stars: Robert Downey, Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges
Rated PG-13

As far as superheroes go, Tony Stark as Iron Man may not have the adolescent angst of Peter Parker’s Spiderman, the existential conflicts of Bruce Wayne’s Batman, the inner turmoil of Bruce Banner’s Hulk, or the vast mutant weaponry of the various X-Men characters. But Iron Man does have one very vital weapon in its arsenal: Robert Downey, Jr. With his quick wit, ironic attitude, and immensely likable screen persona, he makes Iron Man really soar.

Lions for Lambs - Although Lions for Lambs, the latest film from Robert Redford is less than an hour and a half in length, I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Even as a former altar boy, I was never big on sermons, and boy does this movie have a bunch of them...More |

The Kite Runner - I don’t know why this terrific film was ignored by some mainstream critics; it’s one of the most heartfelt, emotionally wrenching films I saw last year and it’s beautifully understated at the same time..More |

Atonement - This beautifully filmed version of Ian McEwan’s best selling novel was either the most underrated film of last year or the most overrated, depending upon your taste for British love stories. Let’s just say that if your taste...More |

Enchanted - The best thing about this Disney hybrid of Live Action and Animation is Amy Adams who deftly handles both the light comedy and musical numbers with equal amounts of enthusiasm and style. A tongue-burrowed-in-cheek fairy tale that literally comes alive...More |
